The Application Guidelines Overvoltage Protection: Dimensioning, testing and application of metal oxide surge arresters in railway facilities (first edition June 2000) was much welcomed by our customers and other interested persons. The further development of the products makes it necessary to revise and complete the application guidelines. In the present application guide there are to be found not only the adaptation to the newest standards but also devices for protection of persons against too high contact voltage. The new structure is meant to bring more clarity.

On 60 pages you will find the recent state of technology and documentation. The first edition of the application guidelines for the dimensioning, testing and application of metal-oxide surge arresters (MO arresters) in medium-voltage systems appeared in 1994 and was written by René Rudolph. We were very pleased by the extremely positive reception, which attested to our belief that competent consulting with regard to the application of our products is as important as the quality of the products itself. The technological progress and the many constructive remarks by our customers now makes it necessary to provide a fifth revised edition of this brochure.

32-seitige Anwendungsrichtlinien: Die Anwendungsrichtlinien Überspannungsschutz, «Bemessung, Prüfung und Einsatz von Metalloxidableitern in Bahnanlagen» (erste Auflage Februar 2000), haben bei unseren Kunden und anderen Interessierten grossen Anklang gefunden. Die Weiterentwicklung der Produkte und die Vervollständigung des Portfolios machen eine Überarbeitung und Erweiterung der Anwendungsrichtlinien nötig. Neben der Anpassung an neueste Normen sind in die vorliegende Ausgabe auch Geräte zum Schutz von Personen gegen zu hohe Berührungsspannungen aufgenommen worden. Weiter soll eine neue Gliederung die Übersichtlichkeit erhöhen.
